Belarus-Kazakhstan business forum

Within the framework of the official visit if Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Investment and Development Ministry of Kazakhstan organized the Belarus-Kazakhstan business forum in Minsk.
Partaking in the forum were the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Matyushevski, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, the Chairman of BelCCI Vladimir Ulakhovich, the Minister of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kassymbek, the Chairman of Board of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan Ayan Yerenov, about 400 business community representatives from both sides.
The First Vice-Premier of Belarus said he believes that the Belarus-Kazakhstan business forum would become a major event for Belarusian and Kazakhstani businessmen since the two countries are connected by many years of friendship and mutual understanding and have a long record of effective cooperation in various branches of economy.
"The level of strategic partnership has produced certain results but the potential of our bilateral relations can give so much more,” said Vasily Matyushevsky. He noted that Belarus is interested in effectively working with Kazakhstan in information technologies, in the digital transformation of conventional economy branches and in creating a new economy as part of modern digitalization. In his words, Belarus also intends to advance manufacturing cooperation with Kazakhstan, develop cooperation in agribusiness, transportation and logistics, road construction, oil and gas industry, mining industry. “Moreover, we are not just talking about transport logistics but about the creation of two digital transit corridors," he said.
The BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich called the forum a unique event, being the largest one in our history. "It is essential that the event is taking place during the visit of Kazakhstan President. This is a very important sign for business. This is both support and great responsibility,” he remarked.
Speaking about the bilateral trade, Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that the countries expect to reach the $1 billion psychological mark soon. “The leaders of both countries support cooperation, projects, and business contacts. In my opinion, this is what will bring results very soon. We hope to hit this mark at the first stage and keep moving on,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said. In his words, the future of bilateral relations belongs to establishing joint ventures and selling products not only into our markets in the EAEU but also into third countries.
Chairman of Kazakhstan Foreign Trade Chamber Ayan Yerenov stressed the successful operation of joint assembly plants.
The forum comprised an exhibition which showcased over 100 cutting-edge developments of 55 Belarusian companies. The latest products of Belarus' mechanical engineering were demonstrated at the open space. Another draw of the forum was a business matchmaking event resulting in big contracts on the Belarusian products supplies.
The BelCCI and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan signed the Agreement on the Joint Business Council Establishment.
