Belarus-Montenegro business forum

The Belarus-Montenegro business forum has been held in Minsk, organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

Participating in the forum were the BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, the Vice President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro Ivan Savelich, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus Ramiz Bashich, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, more than 40 enterprises and organizations of both countries.

The forum participants discussed the prospects of Belarus-Montenegro trade and economic cooperation, including the possibility of the organization of a regular air route from Minsk to Montenegro. According to the Vice President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, the direct route will not only facilitate bilateral cooperation in tourism, but  will also promote interaction in other spheres, i.e. in agriculture, energy engineering, will facilitate direct contacts between small and medium enterprises.

Ivan Savelich expressed hope that the business forum will be the first one out of numerous activities to promote bilateral economic cooperation development.

The BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that Montenegro is still a new market for Belarus, the trade turnover remains relatively modest. He underlined a number of fields that seem prospective for efficient cooperation development, including woodworking, the supplies of food products from Montenegro with possible further promotion to the EEU market, as well as logistics, tourism, transport, and IT services.

The Ambassador of Montenegro to Russia and Belarus emphasized the importance of bolstering economic cooperation of Belarus and Montenegro. He said: "Montenegro is very popular among Belarusian tourists. We could also cooperate in agriculture, industrial sector. There are a lot of enterprises and products in Belarus that are of interest for Montenegro."

The presentations of the business climate of Belarus and Montenegro were delivered during the forum. The businessmen of the two countries negotiated cooperation prospects in the fields of transport, tourism, construction and construction materials production, energy engineering, metalworking, woodworking, meat industry, audit and accounting, consulting, etc.

In order to promote more efficient cooperation between the enterprises and organizations of Belarus and Montebegro, to facilitate the establishment and deepening of foreign economic ties and investment projects implementation, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro signed a Cooperation Agreement.

The sides agreed to organize business missions, forums, exhibitions and fairs with the participation of businesspeople from Belarus and Montenegro, to exchange commercial offers for trade and economic cooperation, the lists of potential business partners, the information about congress and exhibition events held in both countries, the legal acts in the field of foreign economic activity. Besides, the Agreement envisages cooperation in the development of international arbitration, the assistance of the sides in the set up of joint ventures, information centers and other institutions to promote Belarus-Montenegro business cooperation.
