Date: 25 September 2019

Sergey Nabeshko, the Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the panel session "EAEU: integration into the global market and opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region markets" within the 4th International Forum "Eurasian Week" in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).

Participating in the discussion were Veronika Nikishina, the Board Member (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission; Sanjar Mukanbetov, the Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan; Danil Ibraev, the President of the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; representatives of scientific and business community of the EAEU member states.

The panel session participants noted that the Asia-Pacific region is of strategic interest to the Eurasian Economic Union; enhanced interaction with this region can contribute to the EAEU member countries economic growth. The Eurasian Union pursues an open policy of incorporation into the multilateral trading system and uses the opportunities for profound regionalization to expand export markets. Since 2016, there is a free trade regime between the EAEU and Vietnam, and active process to develop free trade agreements with Singapore and India is underway. In the near future, the Agreement on trade and economic cooperation with China will come into effect; the memorandums of cooperation with Bangladesh, Cambodia, Korea, Peru, Thailand, Chile, and Ecuador have been signed. The sound trade and economic policies with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region allow building mutually beneficial relationships – the Asia-Pacific region share amounted to almost 40 percent of the total EAEU foreign trade turnover in 2018.

The forum "Eurasian Week" is an annual event held by the Eurasian Economic Commission.  The "Eurasian Week" involves the organization of more than 20 discussion platforms. It is attended by more than 2000 businesspersons.

In 2020, the forum will be held in Belarus.
