In the framework of the 7th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, a joint meeting of the national business councils of the two countries was held in the format of a videoconference, organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the leadership of the Belarusian-Russian and Russian-Belarusian business councils.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on Economy, Budget and Finance Tatiana Runets, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrei Kutepov, Member of the Board (Minister) for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Nazarenko, Chairman of the BelCCI Vladimir Ulakhovich, President of the RF CCI Sergey Katyrin, Chairman of the Belarusian-Russian Business Council, General Director of the Belarusian-German JV "Santa Impex Brest" Alexander Moshensky, Chairman of the Russian-Belarusian Business Council, Chairman of the Board of URALCHEM JSC Dmitry Mazepin, heads of regional chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Russia, about 70 business representatives of the two countries.

The BelCCI Chairman noted that the activity of national business councils allows addressing progressively the challenges the businessmen of the two countries face in their interaction. The platform of a joint meeting within the Forums of Regions has proven its efficiency – for instance, the meeting held last year in St. Petersburg addressed some problematic issues that have already been resolved. This year, the meeting is supposed to prepare recommendations in such fields as removal of existing restrictions and barriers in mutual trade, the recognition of digital signature and bank guarantees, participation in state procurement, economy digitalization, joint promotion of products to the markets of third countries and financial support of Belarusian and Russian producers in these markets.

The meeting participants talked over the current state and prospects for further deepening cooperation at the regional level, successful joint projects, issues of ensuring equal access of Russian and Belarusian commercial and industrial structures to the markets of the two countries, mechanisms of technical and legal regulation that affect the expansion of business ties between enterprises and organizations, as well as other systemic issues arising in mutual trade and the export of products to third countries.

During the meeting, the Vitebsk and Gomel branches of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed agreements of cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Samara Region.
