Kazakhstan-Belarus business forum

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev took part in the Kazakhstan-Belarus business forum organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan.

“Belarus is in favor of versatile and all-round development of relations with Kazakhstan which is a reliable partner and a brotherly state for us,” Andrei Kobyakov said at the opening of the forum. The Prime Minister stressed that the further expansion of economic relations is one of the most important tasks for the two states, therefore business forums with the participation of the heads of government are a good tradition in the relations between the countries and are aimed at the full realization of mutual potential.

Andrei Kobyakov noted that Kazakhstan is one of Belarus' major trading partners and third among the CIS member states in the trade turnover. However, the two countries can step up efforts to develop cooperation in the oil industry, including geological exploration, well operation, application of various methods to intensify mining and reservoir recovery, as well as in IT sector, manufacturing,

"Belarus can provide assistance to Kazakhstan in developing agribusiness; besides, it is ready to take an active part in the modernization of passenger and municipal equipment. We are also interested in the joint implementation of projects in the designing and construction of motorways in Kazakhstan,” the Prime Minister said.

According to Andrei Kobyakov, Belarus also sees serious prospects in the joint participation of Belarus and Kazakhstan in the Silk Road Economic Belt project. He invited the Kazakhstani businessmen to join the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park "Great Stone" with obvious benefits.

In turn, the Head of the Government of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev emphasized that the interest the two states' business communities have shown to participation in the forum bears evidence to mutual intention to strengthen business contacts.

"I see a lot of potential in our further trade and economic cooperation enhancement in such three major fields as trade turnover increase, investment cooperation and transport and logistics infrastructure development," Bakytzhan Sagintayev stated.

Taking part in the Kazakhstan-Belarus business forum were over 200 representatives of enterprises and organizations of the two states. The forum participants discussed the prospects of trade and economic, investment cooperation development, the possibilities of joint projects implementation in the fields of mechanical engineering, light industry, electronic trading. Presentations of sci-tech and touristic potential of Belarus, the advantages of doing business within free economic zones were delivered. The official part of the forum was followed by B2B negotiations.
