Meeting with the Vice President of the Government of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz

In the run-up to the official visit to the Republic of Belarus of the President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, the delegation of Cuba headed by the Vice President of the Government of the Republic of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, visited the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Cuban delegation included the Minister-Chairman of the Central Bank of Cuba, Irma Margarita Martinez Castrillon, the Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero, Deputy Minister of Healthcare, Marcia Cobaz Ruiz, BIOCUBAFARMA Company Chairman, Eduardo Martinez Mesa. Accompanying the delegation was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus, Juan Valdes Figueroa.
During the meeting with the BelCCI Chairman, Vladimir Ulakhovich, the heads of the leading Belarusian engineering companies – Piotr Parkhomchyk, the Director General of BELAZ OJSC, Valery Ivankovich, the Director General of MAZ OJSC, and Andrei Matalytski, the acting Deputy Director General for Marketing of MTZ OJSC, the prospects for the Belarusian companies' doing business in the Cuban market were discussed as well as the possibilities of joint ventures set up, exchange of business delegations and holding of bilateral business events, the financial aspects of mutual trade, and other issues of Belarus-Cuba trade and economic cooperation.
Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that Belarusian companies are interested in entering the Cuban market. The idea to establish Belarus-Cuba joint ventures in logistics and mechanical engineering holds a lot of promise, as well as cooperation in the sci-tech sphere. Products of Belarus' industry giants are in demand in Cuba. However, there are some issues with deliveries; financial instruments are not fully available yet. "We are absolutely aware of the obstacles impeding our trade and economic relations. Our common goal is to find a way to overcome them,"
Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz confirmed Cuba's interest in stepping up trade and economic relations and overall cooperation with Belarus. As far as supplies of Belarusian products are concerned, agricultural machinery is of particular interest to Cuba. According to the Vice President, the parties have great potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.
