Meeting of V.Sheiman, Administrator of the Affairs of the President of the Republic of Belarus with Belarusian businessmen

Upon the initiative of the Viktor Sheiman, Administrator of the Affairs of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized his meeting with representatives of Belarusian business, interested in the development of cooperation with Zimbabwe.

Among the participants of the meeting were Chairman of the BelCCI Vladimir Ulakhovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus Mike Nicholas Sango, Chairman of the Management Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Zhishkevich, Eximgarant of Belarus Deputy General Director Igor Lyskovets, Chairman and Executive Director of Minsk Capital Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers Nikolai Ladutko. The meeting gathered leaders of over 220 Belarusian enterprises and organizations from all regions of the country, representing the whole range of entrepreneurship, from small business to large flagship enterprises, and dealing in various spheres.

Viktor Sheiman pointed out that Belarus is planning to cooperate with Zimbabwe in the areas of mineral resources mining, transport and logistics, agriculture, construction. "Last year we signed contracts for the deliveries of MTZ, Gomselmash, Lidagroprommash, MAZ equipment. The next direction for cooperation is agriculture. By the end of the year we expect to lay ground for the production of meat, milk, and later – for their processing. To reach these ends it's essential to build roads, transport a large amounts of freights, therefore, we will be developing cooperation in the sphere of construction, we are planning to create a joint transport and logistics company. So there will be comprehensive cooperation development: agriculture, transport, logistics, energy sector, construction, mineral resources mining," Administrator of the Affairs of the President underlined.

The BelCCI Chairman highlighted that the meeting will give a practical impulse for the development of commercial and economic relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe, for the achievement of higher levels of trade and for expanding interaction areas.

Among prospective cooperation directions Vladimir Ulakhovich named petroleum chemistry, agriculture, personnel training, machine building. According to him, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is planning to organize a business visit to Harare at the end of April and sign over the visit an agreement with the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce. The plans for the next year include the development and preparation of a national exposition in Harare.

The meeting addressed relevant and promising areas of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Zimbabwe, export financing mechanisms for Belarusian enterprises, opportunities for entering markets of the countries sharing borders with Zimbabwe, as well as other practical information for the promotion of Belarusian exports.
