Online conference "Belarus – Italy: economic cooperation amid global challenges"

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted an online conference "Belarus – Italy: economic cooperation amid global challenges". More than 100 businessmen from the two countries watched the broadcast on Zoom platform and the YouTube channel of the BelCCI.
Speaking at the conference were the BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi, the First Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in Italy Irina Arzhankova, the President of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Naples Vincenzo Trani, Director of ICE Agency Francesco Pensabene, the President of Conoscere Eurasia, Bank Intesa AO Board President the Antonio Fallico, BelCCI representative in Italy Moreno Bordoni, the founder of Casa Italiana company Simone Trasarti.
The speakers addressed the issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the current conditions, the restrictions that have arisen in connection with the epidemiological situation, anti-crisis measures taken to minimize the effects of the decline in business activity in the two countries, the introduction of new digital platforms and instruments to promote Belarus-Italy trade and economic relations, the opportunities offered by Bank Intesa and business associations of the two countries to facilitate business networking.
The Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that the Chamber does its best to strengthen Belarusian-Italian business ties, especially in these complicated conditions caused by the pandemics. He said: "The BelCCI and its representatives in Italy represent a system geared towards strengthening and advancing business ties between the two countries. All of us are ready to facilitate the advancement of contacts."
The BelCCI Chairman reminded that Belarus-Italy trade exceeded $2 billion five years ago. "Trade between our countries was balanced then. I think our countries have every chance of reaching this figure. We have a number of opportunities for it. We should advance cooperation in such spheres as metalworking, mechanics, petrochemical industry, and woodworking. Partners from Italy should use Belarus as an industrial platform for promoting joint products to the Eurasian market," Vladimir Ulakhovich believes.
Besides, the BelCCI Chairman informed that the 4th edition of the Belarusian-Italian forum on green economy will be held in Minsk on 13 October."Last year, the forum brought together a lot of participants. It proved to be a successful experiment and gave a strong impetus to the development of cooperation between our countries. I believe that this year's event will also contribute to the strengthening of our bilateral relations," Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.
