The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Swedish National Board of Trade (Kommerskollegium) and the support of the Swedish Embassy in Belarus held a seminar on the specifics of Belarusian exports to Sweden.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Belarus Christina Johannesson, experts of the Kommerskollegium, representatives of more than 50 Belarusian enterprises and organizations.
In his welcoming remarks, the BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich said that Sweden is a promising trading partner for Belarus, there is a steady growth in exports to this country. Nevertheless, trade balance is unfavourable for Belarus; therefore participation in such seminars is important for the Belarusian enterprises. "Our Swedish partners will demonstrate on practical examples how to enter the Swedish market and also the EU market. In this regard, this seminar is very useful and important for us," he stressed.
According to the Ambassador of Sweden Christina Johannesson, such a seminar was needed primarily in order to establish more business contacts between Sweden and Belarus. "Sweden is interested in developing cooperation with Belarus in woodworking, light industry, and IT. However, Swedish companies and Swedish industry do not know well the potential that Belarus has. Belarusian companies could take a more active participation in international fairs and seminars, because this is the only way to introduce oneself," she said.
The seminar focused on the peculiarities of the Swedish market, legal aspects and requirements for exporting products to Sweden and the EU countries, supply channels and consumers' current preferences. Representatives of Belarusian enterprises held talks with experts of the Kommerskollegium.
