Belarus-Algeria online meeting

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Belarus-Algeria online meeting.

Participating in the meeting were Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov, President of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kamel Hamenni, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt and concurrently to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Sergei Terentyev, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of Algeria.

The key topic of the online meeting was cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector, in particular, the issues of coordinating (initialling) the forms of veterinary certificates for the export of meat and dairy products, organizing the visit of a delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food to Algeria to complete the procedure for signing the certificates, as well as drafting the Agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in the field of veterinary medicine and agriculture.

In addition, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Sergey Terentyev presented an analysis of the main directions of bilateral trade development, current and prospective positions for exports and imports, implemented joint projects, voiced some of the barriers preventing the full realization of the potential of trade and economic cooperation. Among other things, it was noted that the organization of direct air service between Algeria and Minsk would contribute to the development of trade between the two countries, as well as tourist and cultural exchange.

The heads of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries expressed the willingness of their organizations to continue constructive interaction for the benefit of the implementation of specific business projects and the strengthening of mutually beneficial business relationships.

The BelCCI Chairman Mikhael Miatlikov underlined exhibition sphere as one of the effective areas of inter-chamber cooperation, as evidenced by the successful experience of organizing national expositions of Belarus at the international exhibition FIA, including this summer, as well as the high-level Algeria-Belarus Business Forum held within the framework of this exposition.
