The 7th session of Belarus-Ukraine Business Cooperation Advisory Council

The seventh session of the Belarus-Ukraine Business Cooperation Advisory Council was held in Gomel as part of the ongoing 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Ulakhovich, the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Gennady Chizhikov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim, representatives of more than 40 Belarusian and 50 Ukrainian enterprises and organizations.

The issues considered by the parties at the meeting include the development of a draft agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Belarus to approve the Electronic Certificate of Origin System. The parties also discuss interregional cooperation and the export potential of the regions, prospects for using trading platforms to expand mutual trade between Belarus and Ukraine, business cooperation in various fields.

Vladimir Ulakhovich said at the meeting that the Advisory Council is a platform where business discusses the most acute problems, promising projects, new opportunities. He named the development of industrial cooperation, in particular, engineering sector, as one of the most important topics. Vladimir Ulakhovich supposed that Belarus can offer the promotion of joint products to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Gennady Chizhikov confirmed that the Ukrainian businessmen are ready to offer new products, the projects related to the use of alternative energy sources, the agricultural products processing, pharmaceutics. The Ukrainian CCI President expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation of public authorities, businessmen will facilitate the fulfillment of the goal set by the two countries' Presidents to enhance the mutual trade turnover.

Nine documents worth about $15 million were signed at the meeting of the Belarusian-Ukrainian Business Cooperation Advisory Council. The Gomel and Vitebsk Branches of the BelCCI signed cooperation agreements with theis Ukrainian partners.
