5 October 2023

Representatives of the business circles of Belarus and Oman discussed opportunities for developing trade, economic, and investment cooperation during a bilateral business meeting. The event took place at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The meeting of Belarusian and Omani businesses was opened by Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI Denis Meleshkin and Anwar Hamed Al-Sinani, Chairman of the South Sharqiya Governorate Branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In their speeches, they noted the constructive nature of inter-chamber cooperation, bilateral business relations of the business circles, as well as the significant potential for expanding the partnership of companies in various areas.

"Belarus and Oman have many areas that can be interesting for business. Oman is a convenient place for doing business in the Gulf region with developed infrastructure and a favourable investment climate. And given the fact that a large logistics centre is being set up in Oman to import products (including those from Belarus, Russia and a number of other countries) and further redistribute them in the nearby region, it is quite obvious that today's event aroused interest among Belarusian companies," Dennis Meleshkin said.

He also stressed that Belarus, an export-oriented state with a developed industry, agriculture and services sector, a competitive investment and tax climate, has a lot to offer its Omani partners. "I am confident that we are taking steps in the right direction and today's event will help to outline new ways to develop trade and economic interaction and to reveal the potential of mutually beneficial co-operation between Belarus and Oman in the future," the BelCCI Deputy Chairman said.

He took the opportunity to invite the Omani business community to pay a visit to Belarus next year to coincide with the International Specialised Exhibition "Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week "Belagro" to be held in Minsk from 4 to 9 June, and assured that the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry would make every effort to ensure a fruitful and substantive business dialogue between the two countries.

After the welcoming speeches, the participants of the meeting were given an overview of current and prospective areas of Belarusian-Omani trade and economic cooperation, as well as the advantages of the business and investment climate in Belarus.

Representatives of enterprises and organisations of the two countries in B2B format discussed opportunities for further development of cooperation in the spheres of construction, automotive, electrical, chemical, food industry, mining, agricultural engineering, tourism and hotel business.
