The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the business forum "Days of the Samara Region in the Republic of Belarus". The event was organized by the BelCCI and the Union "Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Samara Region". The business forum was attended by the BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, acting President of the CCI of Samara Region Mikhail Mamonov, Head of Foreign Economic Ties Department of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Samara Region Andrei Gorshenin, representatives of Belarusian and Samara Region business circles.
As he was opening the business forum, the BelCCI Chairman noted that Belarus is actively cooperating with the Samara Region, there is good dynamics observed in bilateral trade. Following the results of seven months, the trade turnover amounted to almost half a billion dollars, Belarusian exports increased by 120 percent. Belarusian foodstuffs, in particular, cheese, cottage cheese, have gained a foothold in the region; the supply of furniture from domestic manufacturers has doubled. Today, the task is not only to increase the level of trade in goods, but also to find new niches, to launch long-term joint industrial projects.
Acting President of the Union "CCI of the Samara region" Mikhail Mamonov stressed that the economies of the Republic of Belarus and the Samara Region complement each other; the enterprises of the region are interested in cooperation with the Belarusian business in the fields of petrochemical industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and other spheres. The Samara delegation includes heads of companies who are ready to present specific promising projects of cooperation with the business community of Belarus.
The forum was followed by bilateral negotiations between Belarusian and Russian business circles. Businessmen discussed the possibilities of mutually beneficial partnership in the fields of agriculture (farming and the sale of agricultural products), production of industrial and medical equipment, oil and gas, chemical, food industries, energy engineering, metallurgy, logistics, education, and others.
