Vladimir Ulakhovich, the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with Ana Teresa Igarsa Martinez, the Director General of Cuba’s Mariel Special Development Zone. Juan Valdez Figueroa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Belarus, and Mario Leonides Moreno Aguilera, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Cuban Embassy, participated in the meeting.
The parties discussed topical issues of interaction between representatives of the business circles of the two countries, the possibility of exchanging visits of business delegations, holding joint events, including the presentation of the Mariel Special Development Zone to be held on February 24 during which Belarusian business circles will receive information regarding activities of the special development zone and benefits it can provide to business of the EEU countries.
Mariel Special Development Zone was established in 2013. Nowadays, it has more than 60 resident companies from 21 countries. Among the Mariel Zone’s activity areas of priority there are electronics, logistics, IT, pharmaceuticals and energetics as well as financial and banking industries.
