Within the framework of the visit to Belarus of the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a meeting of the President of Zimbabwe with the Belarusian businessmen.
Participating in the event were Chief of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus Victor Sheiman, Minister of Education Igor Karpenko, Deputy Minister of Industry Dmitry Korchik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the National Assembly Council of the Republic Sergei Rakhmanov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the National Assembly Chamber of Representatives Valery Voronetsky, BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, as well as heads of ministries and representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Zimbabwe who accompanied Mr Mnangagwa, representatives of the business of Zimbabwe and about 60 Belarusian enterprises.
Over the meeting the President of Zimbabwe provided current data on the business climate in his country and on the opportunities for developing bilateral relations. According to him, Zimbabwe is open to investments. "We hope that in the near future Belarusian business will enter our market. Such cooperation will bring mutual benefits to both countries. We invite investors from Belarus to conduct business in our state and to use the strategic opportunities that exist in Zimbabwe", Emmerson Mnangagwa pointed out.
Chief of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus Victor Sheiman underlined that the economies of Belarus and Zimbabwe are complementary to each other and the countries have opportunities for reaching a new level of economic cooperation. According to him, the Republic of Zimbabwe is interested in acquiring Belarusian mining dump trucks, tractors, municipal vehicles. There are prospects in joint projects on the development of transport infrastructure, railroad construction, projects on creating logistics centers and motor transportation companies.
The Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed confidence in the fact that the cooperation of Belarus and Zimbabwe has a great future which depends heavily on the business community. "Over the last two days we have been working together with Zimbabwean businessmen who visited a number of Belarusian enterprises, conducted negotiations, defined actual areas for cooperation. The BelCCI and the National Chamber of Commerce of Zimbabwe are ready to provide all the necessary support for business to the benefit of the development of both economies," said Vladimir Ulakhovich.
