The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Novi Sad organized the Serbia-Belarus Business Forum.
The event took place on the eve of the opening of the National Exposition of the Republic of Belarus at the Agricultural Trade Fair Novi Sad. The business forum was attended by the Chairman of the BelCCI Mikhael Miatlikov, Director of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Novi Sad Olivera Simovich, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Nadezhda Lazarevich, Head of the Center for Asia, the Russian Federation and the CIS of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Jovana Majstorovich, Honorary Consul of the Republic Belarus in Novi Sad Dragolub Shvonya, representatives of more than 50 Belarusian and Serbian enterprises and organizations.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the BelCCI Mikhael Miatlikov noted that the Belarusian business has a real interest and specific proposals for the development of cooperation and the implementation of joint projects with the Serbian side. There is a significant potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation in such areas as logistics, veterinary medicine, wholesale trade, science, the food industry, meat and dairy production.
The Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also stressed that the BelCCI and the CCI of Serbia strive to provide all possible support to businesses interested in partnership. The Chambers have created a joint Belarusian-Serbian Business Council, and its meetings are held, as a rule, within the framework of the sessions of the Intergovernmental Commission. "I would like to note that we are open for cooperation and believe that the format of the Business Council is best suited for discussing emerging issues, improving the efficiency of business relations between Belarusian and Serbian entrepreneurs, especially in the current business environment. We are ready to host events of this format," said Mikhael Miatlikov.
In addition, he invited Serbian enterprises to visit Belarus, as well as to take part in international exhibition events planned for this year.
"On behalf of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I can assure you that we will do our best to provide Serbian and Belarusian companies with the necessary support and assistance. I wish all participants of the forum successful and fruitful work in search of new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation," the Chairman of the BelCCI summed up his address.
The participants of the Serbia-Belarus Business Forum discussed promising areas for the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Reviews of the investment opportunities of the city and free economic zone of Novi Sad, preferences provided to residents of Belarusian free economic zones, in particular FEZ Grodnoinvest, as well as the export potential of Belarusian companies were presented presented.
Within the framework of the forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between Grodnoinvest and Novi Sad free economic zones.
After the plenary part, business representatives continued to work in the format of bilateral business negotiations in such areas as agriculture, petrochemistry, industrial production, engineering, export-import operations, and others.
On May 20, the program of a business visit to Serbia will be continued by the work of the Belarusian delegation at the Agricultural Trade Fair Novi Sad.
