Session of the Business Cooperation Council between the BelCCI and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia

Minsk has hosted the eighth session of the Business cooperation council between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

The session was attended by Zeljko Sertic, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, Alena Kupchyna, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Veljko Kovacevic, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Chushev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Serbia, Marko Cadez, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Vladimir Ulakhovich, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the two countries' businesses.

The Minister of Economy of Serbia Zeljko Sertic emphasized significant potential for expanding business activity of Belarus and Serbia. There are companies from Belarus that show interest in purchasing products of Serbian companies. There are Belarusian companies that sell their goods to Serbia. There are also joint ventures that operate in Serbia. The sides expect to expand mutually beneficial cooperation not only in trade, but also in the service sector, in particular, there is great potential for cooperation in the field of IT.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI Vladimir Ulakhovich, Belarus and Serbia need to develop their production cooperation more actively. “Our countries are not such big and global players as some other states are. Joint manufacturing facilities are our promising areas. Today in Serbia we assemble tractors, work on setting up a joint production and sales of fire engineering equipment to third markets, optimize our commodity-distribution network", he said.

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia signed the minutes of the session. A contract on delivery of lids and inner tubes valued at 100 thousand euro was signed between Motovelozavod LLC and TRAYAL Corporation.

The plenary session was followed by bilateral negotiations providing the representatives of 67 Belarusian and 37 Serbian company with an opportunity to negotiate the prospects of further cooperation in the areas of construction, agriculture, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, banking, and others.

The representatives of Belarusian and Serbian enterprises discussed the possibilities to supply to Serbia Belarusian syringes, pallets for apples. The issues concerning engineering projects, reconstruction, modernization and production of lifting equipment for the needs of construction and maintenance of buildings and structures were topical as well.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in the areas of medications, BAAs, cosmetics supplies, banking (the sides are considering setting the limits for money transactions), mechanical engineering (production of spare parts to heavy machinery and buses).
