Single Economic Space Business Forum was held in Minsk on May 31

The forum was attended by the Heads of the Governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and the Ukraine. Over 600 delegates from the member states of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space also participated in the forum. These delegates included officials representing ministries and agencies, political and public figures, heads of leading entrepreneurial associations and unions, representatives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and international organizations as well as businesspersons and economic experts.

Heads of governments of the five countries, the representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission Managing Board, state authorities and business community took part in the plenary meeting. The workshops included science, IT, industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, tourism. The parties discussed the possibility of cooperation consolidation within the Single Economic Space and the topical issues concerning doing business in the Customs Union.

In the framework of the forum, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation Consolidation. On the part of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the signing ceremony was attended by the EEC Board Chairman Viktor Khristenko. On the Ukranian side, the Memorandum was signed by the Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov.

Five agreements on cooperation in the innovation and scientific activity were signed at the forum. Two more agreements will help to develop cooperation in the sphere of tourism. Following the industrial cooperation workshop, OAO MAZ and Kazresursprom signed an agreement on the supplies of Belarusian trucks to Kazakhstan. One more agreement in the transport sector was signed between Interavtotrans and WestInterTrans on technical assistance for Kazakhstan’s forwarders on the territory of Belarus.

The forum was organized by the Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Belarus, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, and other organizations and institutions.
