On June 14, the 16th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which is held under the motto "Sovereign development is the basis of a just world. Let's join forces for the sake of future generations", kicked off in St. Petersburg.

As part of the business program of the forum, on June 15, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov took part in a round table meeting "The Union State: a strategy for interaction of Belarus and Russia".

In his speech, Mikhael Miatlikov underlined the need to involve the business community in the process of preparing legislative initiatives in such areas as regulatory burden optimizing, eliminating legal, economic and technical obstacles to mutual trade, and introducing new measures to support the export of joint products.

The participants of the meeting were presented with the proposals of the Belarusian business to improve the legislation. In particular, the Belarusian side made proposals on the harmonization of the legislation of Belarus and Russia in the field of subsidizing engineering products, on the convergence of the law enforcement practice of the two countries in force majeure certification, as well as on the abolition of subsidies for the products that do not have a certificate of origin ST-1 issued in Belarus or Russia.

Taking into account the need for active work to improve the conditions for doing business in the common market and protect domestic producers, the BelCCI proposed to introduce a supranational mechanism in the Union State to support congress and exhibition and fair activities as a tool for promoting jointly produced products to the markets of third countries.
