President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has inaugurated the International Exhibition Centre in Minsk.
‘We are opening a new page in the annals of our sovereign Belarus. We have named this miracle the Minsk International Exhibition Centre,’ said the head of state during the ceremony to which representatives of the capital's public, the developer and construction companies involved in the construction of this facility were invited. - Modern, without excesses, hovering like a stork over a picturesque corner of our capital, it is designed to show the world our richest potential and achievements of the Belarusian nation.
Speaking about the idea implemented in this centre, the head of state told about his long-standing visit to the former exhibition site in Minsk, where the achievements of the national economy were demonstrated. ‘I went into it and aghast. I didn't think that Belarus could do all this,’ said the head of state. Today's young people are just as far from knowing everything about the vast possibilities of their country, the President believes. That is why it is very important to concentrate in one place all that Belarusians have achieved over the years of independence, to collect the best. ‘My idea was to build this centre here, to place the highest achievements of our country, our sovereign Belarus on a permanent basis - this is what we have done ourselves, not as part of a huge country, but the Belarusians themselves, with their own minds and their own hands,’ Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
According to him, there should be a permanent exhibition of achievements of modern Belarus in the International Exhibition Centre. This does not prevent holding thematic expositions, such as Milex or Belagro. ‘They will be held. Such platforms have been created for this purpose. But there should be a basis - a permanent exhibition to show what we have achieved to date, as in a museum, but not in the historical context,’ explained the President.
It is planned that the Eurasian Economic Forum will be among the first major international events to be hosted by the IEC in Minsk.
