The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a business meeting of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus H.E. Cham Ugala Uriat with the representatives of Belarusian companies and organizations.
Participants of the meeting were welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Denis Meleshkin. He noted that friendly diplomatic relations have been established between Ethiopia and Belarus, which will contribute to the development of trade relations: "Trade turnover is growing at a good pace, but the potential is far from being exhausted. Today's event has revealed great interest from Belarusian businesses – around 50 organizations were present at the business meeting. Thanks to such events, Belarusian businesses learn about the trading conditions in Ethiopia, which contributes to increasing interest and contacts, as well as boosting our country's exports."
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Cham Ugala Uriat emphasized that Ethiopia is interested in cooperation with the Republic of Belarus across a wide range of areas. "Political relations between the two countries are at a very high level, and I hope that trade and economic ties will reach the same level," the Ambassador noted. "Ethiopia may be interested in Belarusian products, primarily in agricultural machinery. From our side, we want to emphasize that Ethiopia is a leader in the production coffee, spices, flowers, and our country is ready to offer materials for footwear and clothing production. I hope that bilateral relations will continue developing, and areas of mutual interest will be expanded."
Deputy Head of the Ethiopian diplomatic mission in Russia and Belarus, Roza Yerukneh, presented the participants from the Belarusian business community with the economic potential of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, as well as investment, trade, and tourism opportunities in this country.
After the presentations, senior executives of 12 Belarusian enterprises had the opportunity to have direct B2D conversations with representatives of the Embassy, discuss possibilities for developing cooperation with Ethiopian companies, and ask specific practical questions regarding doing business with Ethiopia.
