Dushanbe hosted a meeting of the Belarusian-Tajik Business Council organized by the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. Predeeding the event were a meeting of the Belarusian-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation preceded the event, where Denis Meleshkin, Deputy Chairman presented the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and an exhibition-presentation of Belarusian products.
Welcoming speeches by Jumakhonzoda Jamshed, Chairman of the Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Denis Meleshkin, Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI, Kurbon Hakimzoda, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sergey Bartosh, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, and Viktor Denisenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Tajikistan, opened the meeting.
The speakers noted the positive dynamics of Belarusian-Tajik business relations, the interest of both sides in expanding partnership ties. They emphasized the readiness of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, government agencies, and diplomatic missions to support the establishment and deepening of cooperation between business communities.
In particular, Denis Meleshkin, Deputy Chairman of the BelCCI, pointed out that the Business Council is an important platform for enhancing the efficiency of business relations between organizations of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as identifying and overcoming barriers to the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The meetings of the Council provide an opportunity for business representatives to discuss partnership projects in person, voice proposals and questions on the development of cooperation, establish useful contacts and reach specific agreements.
"An impressive Belarusian delegation has arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan. It includes the heads and representatives of 24 Belarusian enterprises and organizations from all regions of the country. These are both grands of the Belarusian industry, which are already known in Tajikistan, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses who are eager to find new partners.
It is obvious that Belarusian business is interested in cooperation and has something to offer. That is why contracts and agreements will be signed at the end of the meeting," Denis Meleshkin emphasized.
In order to enhance the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, the BelCCI Deputy Chairman suggested the representatives of the business community of Tajikistan to organise a national exhibition in Belarus. Besides, he offered taking part in major exhibition projects in Belarus this and next year, such as the Belarusian Industrial and Innovation Forum, the specialized agricultural exhibition "BELAGRO", the International Forum and Exhibition of Information Technologies TIBO, and others.
"The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will provide all possible support in participating in exhibition events or holding them in our country, as well as hosting business representatives of Tajikistan," the Deputy Chairman assured.
Following the welcoming speeches, the participants of the Business Council meeting were presented with the advantages of Tajikistan's investment climate and the export crediting instruments for Belarusian supplies offered by the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus. In addition, the proposals of Belarusian and Tajik enterprises for further strengthening of cooperation were considered.
The official part of the meeting ended with the signing of 13 bilateral documents – cooperation agreements and contracts for the supply of products totalling more than $16 million.Representatives of the businesses of Belarus and Tajikistan continued active work in the format of B2B negotiations.
