
The Days of the Gomel Region have started in Moscow, on the site of VDNKh.
Until 13 May, residents and guests of the Russian capital will be able to get acquainted with the exhibitions dedicated to the cultural heritage, historical past and folk traditions of the Gomel region.
Gomel region is the second largest region of the country, rich in unique natural, economic, intellectual resources, with significant tourist appeal. This region has preserved ancient customs and crafts, inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity and the State List of Historical and Cultural Treasures.
The exhibition-presentation "Gomel region: history and modernity" will present these features and much more with the help of authentic memorial items from the collections of the museum of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble and modern photos from the archive of the newspaper "Gomelskaya Prauda".
The "Belarusian House" location is an exhibition of traditional life in the village of Neglyubka, Vetka district. The house is richly decorated with traditional Neglubian textiles, and a variety of kitchen utensils are presented.
Musical decoration during the expositions is provided by creative groups of the region.
"Gomel region has much to be proud of – rich in natural, economic, intellectual resources, the region attracts attention of numerous business partners from Russia. And this is not surprising: the region hosts about 20 per cent of the country's industrial production. The industrial potential will be presented at the exhibition by the giants forming the gross product of the region – Mozyr Refinery, Byelorrusian Steel Works, Gomel Chemical Plant, Petrikov Mining and Processing Plant", Andrei Konyushko, Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee said.
A solemn event dedicated to the Days of Gomel Region at VDNKh will be held on May 6. It is planned that the leadership of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, as well as distinguished guests from Russia will take part in the event.
