Islamabad hosted the Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Trade Development Authority and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan in the run-up to the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko to Pakistan.
Prior to the opening ceremony of the forum, B2B talks were held between representatives of about 130 Belarusian and Pakistani companies, who discussed possible partnership projects in mechanical engineering, food, chemical industry, logistics, and many other areas.
Alexei Kushnarenko, Minister of Energy of Belarus, held meetings and negotiations with Minister of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Jam Kamala Khan and Executive Director of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Muhammad Zubair Motiwala. The meetings were attended by Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov and Chairman of the Islamabad office of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karim Aziz Malik. The talks focused on the general issues of the Belarus-Pakistan trade and economic interaction, bilateral business events to establish and deepen business contacts, prospects of participation of the enterprises of the two countries in major international exhibition projects in Belarus and Pakistan, as well as the implementation of the roadmap, which is the basis for further interaction.
The Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum was officially opened by speeches by Minister of Commerce of Pakistan Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of Energy of Belarus Alexei Kushnarenko, Executive Director of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Muhammad Zubair Motiwal, Chairman of the Islamabad office of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karim Aziz Malik, and Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov.
The speakers presented the trade and economic, export and trade opportunities of the two countries, noted the willingness of the parties to intensify partnerships and cooperation, to open new horizons for strengthening trade ties, exchanging experience and technologies.
In particular, the head of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the potential of the enterprises – the delegation participants, as well as of Belarusian exporters – members of the BelCCI in general, which represent almost all segments of the economy: from heavy engineering to legal consulting and logistics.
"Belarus is a state with a powerful industry and developed agriculture, possessing a wide transportation and logistics potential and ensuring constant growth of the population's welfare. And we have something to offer Pakistani partners. The BelCCI sees its main task to maximize assistance in building and developing mutually beneficial business cooperation between Belarusian and foreign companies, including Pakistani. We expect that the agreements reached at today's forum will expand the existing business ties and lay a solid foundation for future economic projects," Mikhael Miatlikov summarized.
The participants of the business forum were also informed about investment opportunities in Pakistan, practical solutions for cargo delivery in trade interaction between Belarus and Pakistan, and opportunities for the use of exchange mechanisms by companies of the two countries for mutual trade.
Eight documents – cooperation agreements, memorandums of intent, distribution agreements and contracts between Belarusian and Pakistani partners in mechanical engineering, medical products, metallurgy, transportation and logistics services – were signed during the forum.
At the end of the event, the representatives of the business community continued B2B negotiations.
